The Tehbazari wing of the Municipal Corporation took action in some areas of the city today. Officials said that the residents of a locality in Upkar Nagar complained to them that the owner of an NGO working for stray dog care was creating problems as they had kept some stuff in streets where the dogs would be fed. “There were several complaints in this regard and the dogs were attacking people living there, so we removed all the stuff from there,” said an official.

In the PPR area, several street vendors were asked to vacate the place and their goods were seized. “The action was taken on the complaint of the Deputy Mayor,” said an official.

Action was also taken against the vendors at Nakodar road. There are eight inspectors in the Tehbazari wing apart from six labourers.

The officials said that more action will be taken against encroachments and illegal structures in the coming days.

There was also a shortage of cranes and vehicles on which the seized items could be kept, the officials said. “The transportation issue is causing problems in taking action against the defaulters,” they pointed out.
