Jalandhar, February 27

The Jalandhar rural police arrested three persons and recovered 302 grams of heroin, six pistols, ammunition and two bikes from their possession.

The suspects have been identified as Sukhpreet Singh and Akashdeep of Lohian and Hardeep Singh of Ludhiana. They were today presented in a court, which sent them to four-day police remand.

Sharing details, SP (Investigation) Jasroop Kaur Bath said ASI Buta Ram, in charge of Talwandi Sanghera police post, Shahkot, got a tip-off that three persons were involved in selling country-made pistols in the area. SHO Yadwinder Singh arrested Sukhpreet. During checking, the police recovered 302 grams of heroin, a pistol with magazine and two live cartridges from his possession. The police recovered a pistol with magazine and two live cartridges each from Akashdeep and Hardeep.

During Sukhpreet’s interrogation, the police recovered three more pistols. All suspects have a criminal past. Five cases were already registered against Sukhpreet, while 11 cases were registered against Hardeep. A case of attempt to murder and under the Arms Act was registered against Akashdeep at the Lohian police station.
