A powerful thunderstorm that swept across parts of Punjab late last night caused extensive damage to property in Salarpur village near Phagwara, leaving residents shaken and assessing the aftermath.

In village Salarpur, high-velocity winds tore off several large metal sheets (chadars) from a shed owned by Ranjit Singh. The sheets were flung a considerable distance, demolishing a wall and underscoring the storm’s intensity. Preliminary estimates suggest a financial loss of approximately Rs 12 lakh. The incident occurred late at night, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.

In a separate incident in Phagwara, nine rooftop solar panels were ripped from a dental clinic during the storm. The panels, which had been recently installed, were severely damaged as they collapsed from the building’s top floor.
