How it all began…

 A heritage locomotive of 1909 built by Sharp and Co,
Glasgow (UK), which was run on the
Siliguri-Darjeeling section, is on display at the
entrance to the RCF’s administrative building.

Skin tensioning of the coach shell is done to relieve
stress developed in coach shell material during welding.
This process involves heating and hammering of metal
surfaces. Skin tensioning provides even coach shell
surface and anti-drumming feature to coach shell.

Rain gutters are provided on the side wall of the coach
shell to eliminate rainwater spillage on the
coach surface. It drains out rainwater towards
the end of the coach shell, which safeguards
coach walls and doors from rainwater.

RCF has an astro-turf hockey stadium that not only
churns out international hockey players, but is
also a training ground for the Indian Railways
Hockey Academy.
