Two arrested with intoxicants in Kapurthala

According to police sources, in the first case , a police patrol led by ASI Harjit Singh was conducting regular rounds in Kotu Chowk, Market Chowk, Dhana Mandi, and Shekhupur. During the patrol, the team noticed a young man walking from the direction of Shekhupur who appeared suspicious. The police apprehended him and conducted a search, which led to the recovery of 170 intoxicating tablets of unidentified make and without any valid mark or licence.
The accused was identified as Virminder Singh, alias Vikter, resident of Bhuee. Following the recovery, a case was registered under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, and the accused was taken into custody for further investigation.
In the second case registered at Kapurthala, the police team headed by ASI Sukhchain Singh was conducting vehicle checking operations in the vicinity of Fattuwind, Phulewal, Lakhan Kalan, and Hamira villages. While the patrol was proceeding from Phulewal towards Lakhan Kalan, a young man walking from the direction of Lakhan Kalan was intercepted on suspicion.
Upon search, the police recovered 25 gram of heroin from his possession. The accused has been identified as Karamjit Singh, alias Sodhi, resident of Lakhan Kholey, under Subhanpur. The contraband was seized on the spot in the presence of witnesses, and the accused was arrested under the NDPS Act.
Senior police officials have confirmed that both cases are under investigation, and further inquiries are being made to trace the source and possible network involved in the supply of narcotic substances. The Kapurthala police have reiterated their commitment to maintaining strict surveillance and enforcing zero tolerance towards drug trafficking and substance abuse in the district.
