Two held with 50-gm heroin

Jalandhar: The cops at CIA Staff police-1 nabbed two drug peddlers and recovered 50-gm heroin from them on Sunday. The accused have been identified as Varinder Singh and Rajinder Singh, both resident of Beas. While 20-gm heroin was recovered from Varinder, 30-gm heroin was recovered from Rajinder. The cops said as per the statements of Sahil Gill and Sahil Kalyan, residents of Ali Mohalla, who were arrested last on Wednesday, a police party through a joint investigation nabbed Varinder and Rajinder from Feroman Road, Beas. A case under Sections 21-61-85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against them. TNS

BJP OBC morcha chief appointed

Jalandhar: Advocate Davinder Lubana Dimpy has been appointed as the district president of BJP’s OBC morcha. Ashwani Sharma, Punjab BJP president; Rajinder Bitta, president OBC morcha, Punjab; Sushil Sharma, Jalandhar BJP president, announced this here. A social worker and a former student activist, Lubana has been reportedly rendering services to the party for the past 14 years and even worked with the ABVP, the student union of the RSS.
