The district administration today observed a two-minute silence at 11 am in the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country.

The civil, police officials and employees from various departments paid homage to the freedom fighters and martyrs at the district administrative complex. Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal along with ADCs Amit Mahajan, Jasbir Singh, SDM Balbir Raj Singh and other officials paid their rich tribute to the freedom fighters and Mahatma Gandhi, father of the nation. It was on January 30,1948, when Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated.

The DC said, “We should always remember the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and exhorted the people to play a proactive role in fulfilling their aspirations.” He said everyone should perform his duty sincerely which will be a real tribute to our freedom fighters. He said that countrymen enjoy the fruits of Independence because of the martyrs.
