Regional Passport Officer (RPO) Abhishek Sharma on Friday emphasised the importance of using DigiLocker for a smooth and expedited passport application process.

He advised applicants to either share their supporting documents from their DigiLocker account with the Passport Seva system while filling in their application form or to keep their documents readily available by uploading them on the DigiLocker app.

The ROP highlighted that this approach would prevent unnecessary objections and avoid file escalations to the back office for further verification. Additionally, it would help in curbing potential document forgery.

He listed the indicative documents that can be accessed through the DigiLocker app, including Aadhaar card, driving licence, Voter ID card, PAN card, birth certificate, ration card, Class X pass-out certificate, electricity bill and telephone bill.
