An ex-serviceman died and two persons were injured in an accident involving four vehicles — two cars and two motorcycles — near Taragarh village on the Hoshiarpur-Jalandhar national highway.

According to information, ex-serviceman Kamaljit Singh (44) of Dhirowal, Naru Nangal, was going to attend duty as a security guard in Jalandhar on his motorcycle this morning. Meanwhile, Vishal Chopra was coming to his home in Jalandhar from Hamirpur in his car with his wife Anjali and daughter Mahira.

In another car, Pankaj of Hamirpur was going to Amritsar in his car with his family members, including wife Neha Tanvi and two children, Ansh and Divansh.

Arpan Kumar, a resident of Baryal near Shamchurasi, was returning home on his motorcycle. All these vehicles were going from Hoshiarpur towards Jalandhar. When all vehicles reached the Taragarh turn, they collided with each other.

On receiving the news, a team of the Road Safety Force reached the spot. They took the injured to the Civil Hospital, Hoshiarpur, but ex-serviceman Kamaljit Singh died on the way. Another motorcycle rider Arpan Kumar was undergoing treatment in the Civil Hospital. The cause of the accident was not yet known. Police have started further action and sent the body of Kamaljit Singh to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem.
