Father Thomas KJ, a veteran missionary associated with the Diocese of Jullundur, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 84 after a prolonged illness. He was serving as the Executive Director of the Roshni Society, an NGO helping youth with polio and other physical deformities reintegrate into mainstream society. He arranged corrective surgeries and vocational training to enable them to earn independently. Roshni Society operated centres in Jalandhar, Rajpura, and Jagadhri (Haryana). Father Thomas helped hundreds of specially-abled youth, some of whom he also supported in marriage and settling down.
