Ajunior badminton tournament will be organised by BanM Badminton Academy at Dasuya in Hoshiarpur from May 9 to 11. The matches will be held in under-11, under-13, under-15, and under-17 singles and under-15 doubles categories for both boys and girls. The matches will be played on synthetic courts. Cash prizes ranging between Rs 2,100 to Rs 5,100 have been announced for various categories for the winners and runners-up.

THE 307th birth anniversary function of Nawab Jassa Singh Ahluwalia, founder of the princely state of Kapurthala, has been scheduled to be held on May 4 (Sunday). Tikka Shatrujit, a descendant of the erstwhile royal family, said that an Akhand Path for the event had started on May 2 and bhog and kirtan will be held from 10 am to 11 am.

200-km cycling event

THE 11th edition of Chintpurni Brevet, a 200 km cycling event, will be conducted on May 10 (Saturday). Being organised by Hawk Riders, a Jalandhar based cycling club, the 200 km cycling event will start from Doaba College in Jalandhar at 3:30 pm. The expedition will pass through the picturesque Shivalik Range. Since it will continue till the night, it is expected to add to the thrill of the participating cyclists.
