Woman arrested for selling chemical-based illicit liquor
The Mehatpur police have arrested a woman on the charge of selling chemical-based illicit liquor. Investigating Officer (IO) Jaspal Singh said 70 bottles of chemical-based illicit liquor were recovered from the possession of the accused, identified as Paramjit Kaur, wife of Jaswant Singh, a resident of Chhana village.
The IO said a case under Sections 61/1/14 of the Excise Act and Sections 123 (causing harm using poison) and 62 (committing offences punishable with life imprisonment) of the BNS was registered against the accused and her husband and Rs 23,000 earned by selling illicit liquor was recovered from the accused.
