The police have arrested a woman after recovering 22 intoxicating tablets from her possession during routine patrolling. Phagwara SP Gurmit Kaur Chahal said a police team on patrol duty was moving towards Basra Chowk when they spotted a woman standing near the old Patwari Khana in Phagwara. On noticing the police, the woman allegedly threw a black polythene packet on the roadside and tried to turn away.
The police apprehended her immediately. Upon checking the packet, 22 orange-coloured intoxicating tablets without any marking were recovered from it. The arrested woman was identified as Asha, a resident of Chajj Colony, Phagwara. A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered against her.
