CT Group of Institutions celebrated World Photography Day on Tuesday across its Shahpur and Maqsudan campuses with a vibrant mix of competitions, cultural performances and creative showcases, highlighting the art of visual storytelling.

The event attended by Harjit Singh, who runs a photo studio, along with faculty, students and management from both campuses. At the Shahpur campus, the department of journalism and mass communication (JMC) and multimedia organised photography and reel-making competitions that received over 200 entries, alongside cultural performances and an award ceremony. At the Maqsudan campus, the department of media studies hosted a mobile photography competition, where students creatively explored themes such as food, nature, buildings, faces and colours.

Sangram Singh, campus director (Shahpur), said photography went beyond capturing moments — it shaped perspectives, inspired thought and encouraged self-expression. Anurag Sharma, campus director (Maqsudan), said, “Photography is a universal language that tells stories and documents realities.”

The winners at the Shahpur campus were Gursewak of BArch (Sem V), who won the first prize in the photography competition, followed by Gurchetan of BVoc Web Technology & Multimedia (Sem II) and Abhishek of BPharm (Sem III- CTCP), who secured the second and third prize, respectively. Inderjeet Singh of BSc Multimedia (Sem I) bagged the first position in reel-making competition while Ujjwal of BVoc Web Technology & Multimedia (Sem II) received the second prize. At the Maqsudan campus, Harpreet Kaur, BCA (Sem III) secured the first position in the mobile photography competition, followed by Manav Sharma of BAJMC (Sem I) and Komalpreet of BVoc Multimedia (Sem I).

The World Photography Day was celebrated at the department of journalism and mass communication, GNDU, regional campus at Ladhewali as well. On the occasion, a competition was organised, wherein students from several universities and colleges participated. In the competition, Chandanpreet Kaur and Kanchan of APJ College of Fine Arts won the first prize and second prizes, respectively. The third prize was given to Amritbir Singh from department of journalism & mass communication, GNDU.

The media department of St Soldier Management and Technical Institute also organised a photography competition, wherein students participated by clicking creative photographs, showcasing their talent and artistic vision. Khushhal of BA JMC (Sem III) received the first prize, followed by Riya Minia of MA JMC (Sem III) and Pranav Aneja of BA JMC (Sem I), who got the second and third prize, respectively.
