Youth killed, two booked

Jalandhar: A 21-year-old youth was killed with sharp-edged weapons last night, in Shahkot, while he was returning home with his friend. Victim Ankush was on a bike with his friend Karan. They were returning home near Dasehra ground when they were allegedly waylaid by a father-son duo — Sanjiv Sharma and Tarun Sharma — who also attacked him later on. They were rushed to the Civil Hospital where Ankush was declared brought dead. SHO Shahkot Surinder Kumar said, “Both of them have been booked by the police but are yet to be arrested.” TNS

Gangster held with weapons

Jalandhar: The city police on Wednesday claimed to have solved the murder of Nitin Arora by arresting the main accused and seizing illegal pistols and live cartridges from his possession. The accused had been identified as gangster Akashdeep Singh of Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar. The CP said Akashdeep along with accomplices Rajat Gantotra of Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar, Nitin Arora and others used to commit crimes on the behest of gangsters Dalbir Singh Beera of Raj Nagar, Gopi Bajwa of Raja Garden Extension and Prince Baba of Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar.
