No matter how many days are observed to create awareness about nature and wildlife, inhuman acts, such as the killing of a pregnant elephant after a local allegedly fed her a pineapple stuffed with firecrackers in Palakkad-Malappuram area in Kerala, are happening in broad daylight. The video has created a nationwide uproar amongst netizens and many celebrities have expressed their disgust.
Punish the sinners
Actress Anushkha Sharma re-posted an illustration by @bratati_maity with a caption, “We all would urge @cmokerala to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice for this heinous crime. This elephant was going to give birth 18-20 months later. Even after the elephant was injured, she did not crush a single home or hurt a single human being. She just stood in a river because of the excruciating pain and passed away without hurting a single soul…when you lack empathy and kindness, you do not deserve to be called a human being… just stricter laws won’t help. We need decent execution too. Until the guilty are punished in the worst possible way, these wicked monsters will never fear the law.”
Who’s wild?
Akshay Kumar’s tweeted: “Maybe animals are less wild and humans less human. What happened with that #elephant is heartbreaking, inhumane and unacceptable! Strict action should be taken against the culprits. #AllLivesMatter.”
