In the history of storytelling, the character of a second wife is always viewed as a negative, manipulative woman who wreaks havoc in the marriage of a couple. However, Madalsa Sharma Chakraborty redefined that with her portrayal of Kavya in producer Rajan Shahi’s show Anupamaa. The audience too welcomed this character as a breath of fresh air.

Says Madalsa, “I feel Kavya is a reflection of me in more ways than one. She is strong-willed yet vulnerable. She is ambitious yet she has family values. She stands for what is right and knows when something is wrong. That is why Kavya and I merged as one. Seeing Kavya get so much love from the audience makes me very happy.”
