The actress recently got to know about 22 contract labourers from Begusarai, Bihar, who were stuck at their company site in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. She immediately contacted Vizag district collector and police authorities to make the necessary arrangements. “I am using my Twitter account as a platform for something constructive and participating in the relief efforts. I have been collaborating with different groups and individuals and then heard of these migrants stuck in Vizag,” she said.
She added, “I was so pleased with the prompt action taken by the police and, especially, IPS officer Vishal Gunni. He got in touch with the district collector in Vizag and processed everything within four-five days. Meanwhile, I was in touch with the migrants and got their payments cleared after speaking to their project manager, who was also very co-operative. They also had some cash for their journey back to Bihar, which was arranged in a bus by Vizag district administration.”
