One had a story to tell and another had the ways to make it reach out. Together Jaskaran Singh and Navneet Sharma made Canada Jana Hi Jana win hearts and a Silver Button for their YouTube channel.

A story steeped in the lure of Canada, Jaskaran saw it pan out once he finished his twelfth grade. He was surprised that most of his classmates already had plans or were doing all in their power to make it to the foreign shores. “It failed me completely that they were ready to spend a huge amount of money and do anything to settle abroad,” says Jaskaran, who thought of putting all his efforts to make it right here in India.

At 22, producer of Canada Jana Hi Jana, he feels thrilled that he has been able to tell a story that was close to his heart and alongside win one lakh subscribers, one crore views and 1.5 crore impressions in just about three months. “I cannot put in words how I felt when I got a call from the Youtube channel saying, ‘Thanks for creating such great content,’ shares ecstatic Jaskaran displaying the Silver Button and a letter that accompanied it with pride.

Canada Jana Hi Jana is reaching its finale the coming week. Written by Minto and Akshay, this story that traces the journey of IELTS aspirants finishes on their result day. They sure have season 2 in mind. “We would love to shoot the next season in Canada,” they apprise.

But another series, Meri Kahani, is all set to roll. “Each episode tells the extraordinary story of an ordinary person in an entertaining way,” says Navneet, who run a training centre in Sector 34.

Happy holding onto their Youtube channel, they are not aspiring to get on to OTT platforms at this moment. “Youtube is more accessible to common man,” says Jaskaran, who has recovered bits of the production cost that he had invested in the web series. And he gives the credit to his companion, Navneet. “Together we are not just two individuals but a solid team that has pooled in all resources for our series.”
