Spring a surprise: Here’s how you can up your fashion game this season
Spring is here, so can fashion be far behind? Powder pinks, sunny yellows, leopard prints, striped pants and chunky accessories are all set to rule the roost this season. As summer makes its presence felt, it’s time to bring out the chiffons, air out the summer scarfs and step into the spotlight. We scour the fashion scene and bring out the trends.
# 1 Pink, yellow and mint
Pastel colours make their strong presence felt in spring. This season, if powder pink is making a powerful statement, so are sunny yellows. If demure pink has labels wrapped around its finger, red carpet has seen multitude of yellows, donned by men and women alike. Mint green is enjoying its own space too. “This spring, at The Story Brand, it is all about effortless style. We’re seeing a mix of fluid silhouettes, relaxed tailoring and soft fabrics, which feel as good as they look. Pastels are always a spring favourite, but this year we have combined it with interesting textures and details that make each piece feel special. It’s less about trends and more about versatile, feel-good fashion—clothes that move with you and fit seamlessly into your life,” says Mayana Sobti Rajani, founder and creative director, The Story Brand.
#2 Style the saree
Spring time is the best to take your saree game a notch ahead. With plethora of options today, style your saree with a corset blouse or add a pocket or purse. Designer Ridhi Mehra’s capsule saree collection Ever After comes with corset belts and jackets in the shades of ivory, gold, powder pink and fuchsia. “With Ever After, the addition of corset belts and jackets brings a bold new dimension to traditional draping, allowing women to embrace heritage with a modern, fashion-forward edge,” shares Ridhi Mehra.
# 3 Pastels meet black
Wearing pastels gives that ultra-feminine feel. If that’s what you want to avoid, pair pastel with a dark shade. Pair black or white with a softer shade to break the feminine look, while still keeping up with the times. Alternatively, wear a pastel in a smart pant suit to give a professional look.
#4 Harness the print power
While monochromes are stealing the show on the red carpets, you can stand out in print! Go for small prints for a softer look or go bold in big motifs. Keep the accessories plain for a subtle look. Print-on-print is a trend in itself and being embraced by fashionistas. A bold print paired with something subtle can help create a balanced look.
#5 At work, stay neutral
When it comes to work-wear, minimalism is the key and so are gender-neutral dresses. Pleated skirts, clear-lined blazers and slim pants hold the key this spring. Stripes are touted to make their way back into office wardrobes in 2025 too.
#6 Charming purse
Let your accessory do the talking. Pair a bold, multi-coloured clutch with a plain dress. Go big on bag charms, right from studs to tassels. Chunky jewellery is flavour of the season too. Brands from Loewe, Celine, Miu Miu, Prada to Coach have plennty on offer.
#7 Animal roar
Believe it or not, animal prints are going to make another roaring comeback this season. Enjoying almost timeless appeal, animal prints are big this spring. Leopard prints are touted to lead the fashion scheme If you want to dip you toe in the trend, start with animal print accessories. If a pro, move from staple cat to giraffe or even zebra print!
