Barely eight years old, Lavanya Mittal from Ludhiana is already a star – a TikTok star – who loves acting and when she is not acting, she writes stories and paints. In fact, the Goddess of Creativity has bestowed her gifts generously on her.

Ever since the onset of COVID-19 pandemic, Lavanya has been making videos in which she motivates the people to focus on preventive measures like social distancing, good personal hygiene and frequent hand washing. Through her videos the message she has been putting across is: Stay home, stay safe. No mass gatherings till the spread of COVID-19 is contained.

A student of Class III, Lavanya has done roles in Punjabi short films. Khand Khedna, a movie based on the concept of child labour, on YouTube channel Creative Skull Production, was her debut Punjabi film. She has also featured in Bollywood and Punjabi music albums, apart from online print shoots and TVC of bikes and cycles. She also hosts a show, Popcorn with Lavanya, on YouTube channel Creative Skull Production.

She, however, is not swept away by the glamour world and her studies don’t cease to be a priority, says her mother Kashish Mittal. Calligraphy, debate, painting, story writing, storytelling – this little girl wears quite a few hats. Apart from winning regional talent hunt shows, she has won medals in spell bee, product enactment, story-telling competitions in her school. She is learning Bharatnatyam.

During the holidays/lockdown period, she has been busy with a host of co-curricular activities. Being the only child of her parents, she has big dreams – she wants to be in Judiciary, which holds certain magnetism for her. And acting? Well, the girl says she will not give it up altogether. She may pursue it for the sheer love of it!
