11.2mm rainfall causes waterlogging, disrupts traffic movement in Ludhiana

The city today received 11.2 mm of rainfall, which led to waterlogging at various places. Long queues of vehicles were witnessed at various places after the rainfall. The minimum temperature was recorded at 25°C while the maximum temperature recorded was 33.4°C. The weather is expected to remain cloudy with the possibility of light thundershowers over Ludhiana and its adjoining areas within 24 hours.

Rainfall led to waterlogging at various places. Many city areas like Dholewal Chowk, Ferozepur Road, Chandigarh Road, Civil lines, underpass leading to South City and at Pakhowal Road were filled with water. “After every rainfall, the roads are filled with water leading to inconvenience for the people. Proper planning of rainwater drainage is required to solve this problem,” said Charanjit, a city resident.

Long queues of traffic were seen on Ferozepur Road. “One downpour and it leads to traffic jam. Ludhiana is a Smart City but there seem to be nothing smart about its organisation and management,” said another city resident. “I had a narrow escape after my bike got stuck in a pothole. These should be repaired so that no such incidents happen in future,” said Anil of Sarabha Nagar.
