The state is nearing 5,000 Covid-19 cases with 188 fresh cases being reported on Friday.

With 67 fresh cases, Ludhiana topped the list of districts that continue to witness a steady rise in the number of Covid cases.

Ludhiana is followed by Patiala with 31 cases, Sangrur with 24 cases and Amritsar with 14 cases.

Two more persons succumbed to the virus, one each from Bathinda and Fatehgarh Sahib. The state has lost 122 persons so far.

In the evening state bulletin, the source of infection in 30 positive cases has been found from outside Punjab.

The tally of positive cases in the state has mounted to 4,957 while the death toll stands at 122.

In Amritsar, two patients were put on oxygen support.
