The police have also initiated interrogation of the suspects under the supervision of senior functionaries of various wings of the Ludhiana Commissionerate.
Acknowledging that the suspects, Deepak Deepu and Ram Lal, had made some vital revelations in police custody during the probe, investigating officer Major Singh declined to divulge details as the same would affect the progress of the probe of the high-profile case.
He said revelations made by Rocky Nehra and his accomplices in the case before the Sri Ganganagar police could be verified only after bringing them on a transit remand.
Ram Lal, who is a resident of Takhra village in Sri Ganganagar district in Rajasthan, and Deepak Deepu of Sherewal in Fazilka, along with another criminal Ajay, were brought by police personnel, led by Major Singh to the Civil Hospital again for the mandatory medical examination.
Earlier, the Sri Ganganagar police had nabbed three miscreants following visits by Ludhiana police officials during investigation of an FIR registered against Ram Lal and Deepu under Sections 109, 132, 324 (4) and 3 (5) of the BNS and the Arms Act.
Rocky had admitted before the Sri Ganganagar police that Ram Lal and Deepu were deployed on the mission to take delivery of hand grenades, which were brought to the outskirts of Ludhiana from the Attari Border, Amritsar, by bus.
Rocky was also in contact with Suneel Kumar Meena, alias SK Meena, alias Mayank Singh, a notorious criminal from Gharsana, near the Indo-Pak border, who is lodged in a Jharkhand jail currently.
It was on Mayank’s directions that Rocky had provided two pistols to Ram Lal and Deepu, which were probably used for firing at the police team chasing them on last Thursday.
Sources also revealed that Ram Lal’s Maruti Swift car was also used in the crime in Ludhiana and his accomplice had succeeded in fleeing with the same during the police action.
They revealed that Ram Lal had remained unnoticed in the world of crime under the guise of a fortune teller and social activist. Illegal activities of Deepu also remained unnoticed as he was a nursing student.
Both Ram Lal and Deepu were unaware of their fate when they came to Ludhiana to execute orders of their immediate master Rakesh, alias Rocky Nehra, to take delivery of the two hand grenades a week ago.
