As many as 250 players are taking part in the kho-kho competition for boys (U-17) in the 69th Punjab State Inter-District School Games, being organised by the Punjab Education Department at the School of Excellence, Jawahar Nagar, here on Thursday.

In the matches, played on Thursday, Mansa beat Fatehgarh Sahib 13-2, Sangrur outplayed Ropar 9-4, Muktsar defeated Tarn Taran 10-2, Jalandhar overwhelmed Gurdaspur 12-1, Bathinda outclassed Hoshiarpur 9-4, Kapurthala blanked Ferozepur 4-0, Fazilka drubbed Faridkot 11-2, Moga outperformed Pathankot 13-2, Patiala outnumbered Malerkotla 11-2 and Barnala got the better of Amritsar 12-2.

In chess, at Sacred Soul Convent School, Dhandra, near here, after first round, Patiala gained lead, followed by Faridkot, Mohali, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Sangrur, Fazilka, Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib and Hoshiarpur, respectively.
