The Greater Ludhiana Development Authority (GLADA) demolished three unauthorised colonies in Ladian Kalan and Hussainpura villages on the outskirts of the city on Monday.

The action was a part of its drive against unauthorised and unplanned development. A special drive has also been launched on the directions of Harpreet Singh, Chief Administrator, GLADA, to take punitive action against those exploiting residents with promises of cheaper plots in unauthorised colonies, which lack statutory sanction and compliance with the government norms.

The demolition was carried out by a team, led by District Town Planner (R) Sandeep. It dismantled roads, boundary walls, passages and sewer manholes under construction at sites. The public are appealed not to invest or buy plots in such unapproved colonies, he said.
