A 31-year-old man died due to suspected drug overdose here. The police have booked his three friends for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

The deceased was identified as Gurinder Singh, a resident of village Rurka.

In a complaint to the police, Rashpal Singh stated that his son Gurinder’s three friends took him along to the Jaspal Bangar area on October 23. He alleged that they administered Gurinder an injection filled with a drug. The complainant stated that he reached the place while looking for his son and found his condition severely deteriorated. He rushed him to a private hospital on the Malerkotla road where he died during treatment.

On Rashpal’s complaint, the police registered a case against the victim’s three friends, who were identified as Navdeep Singh, a resident of Rurka, Amardeep Singh of Dehlon and Deepak of Jaspal Bangar.

Investigating officer ASI Sadhu Singh said they had launched a search for the accused, who would be nabbed soon.
