The injured toll manager was immediately taken to Samrala Civil Hospital. Doctors provided first-aid and referred him to a hospital in Chandigarh.
Dr Hamesh stated that the patient, Yadwinder, was struck by a bullet and another bullet brushed past him. The patient also has several other minor injuries.
Samrala DSP Tarlochan Singh said the case appears to be the result of an old rivalry. The injured previously worked at a toll plaza in Dhillon, near Amritsar. Police believe this attack may be the result of his rivalry with Nachattar Singh. They are investigating the matter and hope to soon solve the mystery.
The DSP added that the attackers arrived in a car around 3.30 pm today. The accused first attacked with swords. Then, as they were leaving, they shot him in the thigh. Yadwinder is currently out of danger. He had been posted at the Ghulal Toll Plaza only about five months ago.
