7.5K register for Schools of Eminence exam

Nearly 7,500 students registered for the entrance examination of Meritorious Schools and Schools of Eminence (SOE) in the district. A total of 23 centres were designated by the Education Department to conduct the examination in a smooth manner. The students, seeking admissions in class XI, have registered online for the examination scheduled for April 6.

One of the officials with the department said the examination would be held for 16 SOEs and one meritorious school. RS Model School is the nodal centre for this exam. On being asked about the number of students that would be admitted in the school, officials said it was not clear and the number of seats differed each year, as per demand.

It is pertinent to mention here that even last year, a lot of hue and cry was raised when students were denied admission to the SOE at Indrapuri in Sector 32. Parents and students alleged only “well-connected” people were given admissions in these schools. Indrapuri’s SOE remains the favourite among students in Ludhiana due to the courses and facilities provided at the school.
