Payal MLA Manwinder Singh Giaspura, along with AAP leaders and workers, staged a protest at Doraha mandi against the decision of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) to release 8,500 cusecs of water to Haryana.

“We will not allow even a single drop to Haryana. They have already been given their due. Now, they have no right over the rest. We are not against anybody, but the fact that the allocated amount should have been justly and timely utilised is our motive of the protest,” said Giaspura while burning the effigy of the Centre.

Pointing out at the ‘conspiracy’ hatched by the Centre, the AAP MLA rued that water was their holy father and they could not afford to cheat their father. “The BJP government at the Centre in its desperate efforts to give undue advantage of water to Haryana, has forgotten that we the government of Punjab is not that weak,” he added.
