The Dehlon police have initiated a probe into the sequence of events after registering an FIR against a villager named Manak and his accomplice.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Harjinder Singh Gill informed that policemen, led by Dehlon SHO Sukhjinder Singh, had launched a manhunt for nabbing the main accused Manak and his accomplice who had attacked the house of Chhinda around 11 pm on Saturday.
Though the police are yet to ascertain the reason behind the assault, Chhinda, who is also the president of Pohir Truck Union, alleged that the accused had attacked his house for teaching him a lesson and opposing drug peddlers and patrons after the formation of the AAP government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
Chhinda, who is a close associate of Gill legislator Jiwan Singh Sangowal, said he would not stop his fight against the drug menace at any cost.
