Besides firing around seven shots on the main gate, the assailants burnt the victim’s car after entering the premises of the house and escaped under the cover of darkness after threatening the family of dire consequences.
The Dehlon police have initiated a probe into the sequence of events after registering an FIR against a village resident, Manak, and his accomplices.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Harjinder Singh Gill said cops, led by Dehlon SHO Sukhjinder Singh, had launched a manhunt for nabbing the main suspect, Manak, and his accomplices who had attacked the house of the AAP leader on Saturday night.
Though the police are yet to ascertain the reason behind the assault, Chhinda, who is also the president of the Pohir Truck Union, alleged that the suspects had attacked his house as he opposed drug peddlers, after the formation of the AAP government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, in the state. Chhinda is a close associate of Gill legislator Jiwan Singh Sangowal.
