A farmer awareness camp was organised by the Department of Zoology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), at village Katani Kalan, Ludhiana, in collaboration with the State Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of Punjab.

In this camp, Dr Tejdeep Kaur Kler, Principal Ornithologist and Head, Department of Zoology, PAU, emphasised the importance of birds in ecosystem and conservation of useful birds in agriculture. She said protecting the environment was vital for maintaining human health, and that of the ecosystem for the overall sustainability of life on the planet.

Zoologist Rajwinder Singh delivered a talk on the damage caused and management of vertebrate pests in different agricultural crops.

Dr Manoj Kumar, Senior Ornithologist, interacted with the farmers and distributed literature regarding management of vertebrate pests.
