The NIDHI-TBI team, under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), extended comprehensive support to Daljinder Singh, an agripreneur specialising in growing and processing traditional red rice.

Registered under the brand ‘Avval Desi Dhan’, Daljinder’s firm ‘Nutri Bowl’ sought technical assistance to enhance production, processing and market reach.

To address queries, the NIDHI-TBI team organised a three-hour interactive session with specialists from the Department of Food Science and Technology (FST). The session provided expert guidance from Dr Savita Sharma, Head of FST, Dr Bobade Hanuman and Dr Jaspreet Kaur, Food Technologists, Gurinder Singh, CEO and Akashdeep, TA from NIDHI-TBI. Daljinder’s red rice, renowned for its rich iron, protein and folic acid content hold significant health benefits.

Dr Savita highlighted its nutritional value. Dr Hanuman and Dr Jaspreet addressed queries regarding production challenges, product variants and further testing for quality enhancement.

Gurinder provided insight into networking channels and marketing strategies to enhance market penetration and positioning. The team connected Daljinder with the Centre of Excellence (COE) at Hisar Agricultural University to strengthen regional support. This collaboration aims to facilitate further research and development in red rice processing and marketing.

Dr Ramandeep, PI, NIDHI-TBI, and Director of the School of Business Studies, lauded the team’s efforts in empowering agripreneurs.

Dr Poonam Sachdeva, Co-PI, NIDHI-TBI, acknowledged the NIDHI-TBI team and the FST Department in providing hands-on support to agribusiness ventures.
