Angaddeep and Rudra emerged the champions in the boys’ U-19 and U-11 categories, respectively, while Mehr and Nysa came out triumphant in the girls’ U-9 and U-11 groups, respectively, in the Ludhiana District Table Tennis Tournament being played at Table Tennis Hall, near Rakh Bagh here on Sunday.

In the Under-9 section (boys), Angaddeep survived a scare against Iyaan before winning the title 3-2 with the score-sheet reading 11-5, 11-7, 9-11, 8-11 and 13-11 while in the girls’ section, Mehr toiled hard to overcome her opponent Aarushi Kapila whom she edged out 11-5, 11-7, 9-11, 8-11 and 13-11to clinch the title.

In the girls’ U-11 group, Nysa got the better of Simrat 11-7, 11-5, 9-11, 8-11 and 13-11 to lay her hands on winners’ trophy however in the boys’ category, Rudra logged victory over Sachin 3-1 (11-5, 11-6, 8-11 and 13-11) to romp home champion.

Former Punjab Minister, Bharat Bhushan Ashu declared the championship open. Former Ludhiana Mayor Balkar Singh was the guest of honour on this occasion. They were accorded a warm welcome by the members of the Ludhiana District Table Tennis Association.
