Already facing several cases of fraud, the Ludhiana police registered a fresh FIR against a travel firm for committing another fraud.

The complainant, Tilak Raj, a resident of Kulliawal, told the police that he wanted to settle his daughter Vandana abroad. He contacted the firm and the owners had assured to arrange a visa for his daughter. They had taken Rs 6.50 lakh from him but failed to arrange the visa.

The complainant said he had repeatedly urged the travel firm owners to return the money but they kept making hollow promises. When he could not get his money back, he lodged a police complaint last year and after investigation spanning months, a case was registered against the duo.

A case under Sections 420 (fraud) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 24 of the Immigration Act against the suspects.

On August 12 last year, while protesting against the firm, a couple, Hardeep Singh and Amandeep Kaur, from Dhuri in Sangrur had climbed atop a water tank in Model Town Extension here as the duo was also duped of Rs 10 lakh on the pretext of arranging a visa to the UK.
