Another case filed against two travel agents for committing fraud
Already facing several cases of fraud, the Ludhiana police registered a fresh FIR against a travel firm for committing another fraud.
The suspects were identified as Amit Malhotra and Veenu Malhotra, residents of Phase 1, Urban Estate, Dugri. They are owners of Global Way Immigration, situated near Ishmeet Chowk, Model Town.
The complainant, Tilak Raj, a resident of Kulliawal, told the police that he wanted to settle his daughter Vandana abroad. He contacted the firm and the owners had assured to arrange a visa for his daughter. They had taken Rs 6.50 lakh from him but failed to arrange the visa.
The complainant said he had repeatedly urged the travel firm owners to return the money but they kept making hollow promises. When he could not get his money back, he lodged a police complaint last year and after investigation spanning months, a case was registered against the duo.
A case under Sections 420 (fraud) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 24 of the Immigration Act against the suspects.
