The evening session was dedicated exclusively to theatre.
Gurdev Singh, ACP (Traffic), graced the event as the guest of honour. Renowned Punjabi film personalities Malkeet Rauni, Rupinder Kaur Rupi, Gurpreet Kaur Bhangu, and Paramjit Singh, Director, All India Radio, Jalandhar, also motivated the budding artists with their presence.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Jatinder Paul Singh Gill encouraged the students to pursue their dreams with determination, assuring full support from the university for both academics and extracurricular activities.
Dr Rabinder Singh Aulakh, Director Students’ Welfare, shared that teams from various constituent and affiliated colleges staged their performances with exceptional creativity and maturity.
The plays addressed significant themes, ‘Anni Maai Da Supna’ portrayed the deep psychological wounds left by India’s Partition,‘Hor Kinne Pakistan’ emphasised the need for global harmony by ending hatred, ‘Jadon Main Sirf Ik Aurat Hundi Haan’ highlighted violence against women and the resilience that follows, ‘Zindagi’ explored the struggles of an transgender person torn between biological parents and the eunuch community, ‘Sardal De Aar-Paar’ depicted the emotional battles of girls betrayed in love, ‘Rakat Beej’ used a mythological lens to show how hunger, hatred and corruption continue to plague society, ‘Neer Nirupan’ warned of a terrifying future in a world without water.
