Armed miscreants attack Lohara family

On Friday night, the Lohara family was attacked by 10-11 miscreants with sharp-edged weapons, a case regarding which has been registered at Sahnewal police station last evening. The family had immediately contacted the police. The police, after recording the statements of the victims and procuring the medical report of the injured, registered a case against three identified and 7-8 unidentified suspects under sections 115 (2), 333, 324 (3), 351(2)(3), 191(3) and 190 of the BNS.

Kamaljit Kaur, wife of Charanjit Singh, a resident of New Satguru Nagar, Lohara, alleged that Mani Khachar and Ravi Khachar of Gagan Nagar, Sippy Thakur of Ram Nagar along with 7 to 8 unidentified suspects arrived at their home at 9.30 pm on Friday night and started abusing them. They threatened them with dire consequences in case they did not open the gate. They cut the gate with kirpans and daggers they were holding in their hands. Later, they entered forcibly and attacked his son Navjot Singh with a kirpan on the left arm and right hand. “After that, the accused put a kirpan on my throat and asked me to tell them the whereabouts of my younger son, Inderpal, who was hiding upstairs, having heard the commotion,” the victim Kamaljeet added.

“The miscreants then damaged our car, Honda Amaze, bearing the registration number Punjab-01-B-5276, and also climbed atop the water tank to damage it besides other articles lying in the house,” she said

“The same evening, before the incident, Ravi had called my younger son and threatened that he would teach him a lesson. He also called me to ask my son to abide by the wrongdoings of the former. After the incident again, Ravi contacted, threatening once again not to contact the police, otherwise we would have to pay heavily for it,” she said.

Kamaljit said that the family including her husband, two sons, daughter-in-law and grandchildren were so scared that they did not wish to stay in the house and wanted to leave the place forever. “We urge the police to act and arrest the accused at the earliest,” said the lady of the house.

Investigating Officer Mewa Singh, when contacted, said that the suspects were at large and the police was after them. “They would soon be behind the bars,” the officer added.
