Thanks to the concerted efforts of authorities of Punjab Sports Department and the district administration in ensuring a smooth and successful conduct of the 3rd edition of State-Level Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan, participants expressed overall satisfaction over arrangements made for the sports extravaganza.

Ludhiana is holding competition in four disciplines — athletics, kick boxing, baseball and lawn tennis in which over six thousand players (boys and girls, men and women) are taking part while over two hundred officials are in the city for these games. Competitions in athletics and kickboxing are being held at Guru Nanak Stadium while baseball matches are being played at Government Girls School, Gill village, and in lawn tennis at Harvest Tennis Academy, Jassowal Kular village.

Kuldeep Chugh, District Sports Officer said they had made arrangements for the visiting players’ accommodation at 16 schools and colleges across the city from where they are picked up in the morning and dropped in the evening. Players, in action at Gill village and those at Jassowal Kular village are putting up at nearby places.

“Athletes and officials have their breakfast, lunch and dinner at the dinning space outside Guru Nanak Stadium. They are served dietetic food and the strict adherence to food safety guidelines are being followed, cleaning and disinfection of utensils regularly,” said DSO. Athletes from Gurdaspur, Ferozepur, Muktsar, Amritsar, Bathinda to whom this correspondent talked to, praised the organizers for having provided good quality facilities in food and accommodation.
