BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, and Government Senior Secondary Smart School (GSSSS), PAU, registered victories in the girls’ section in the ongoing Ludhiana District Handball Tournament being held at PAU, here today. A total of 52 teams are taking part in the three-day tournament for sub-junior, junior and senior boys and girls.

In the junior girls’ category, BCM School came out triumphant hands down against Jesus Sacred Heart School 13-0, while in the sub-junior section, GSSSS, PAU proved too good for BCM School, Shastri Nagar, whom they beat 9-1.

Manmohan Singh inaugurated the tournament yesterday while Harjinder Singh and Ishwar Singh were the guests of honour on the occasion. Harinder Sharma, vice-president, Punjab Handball Association, welcomed the guests and other dignitaries.

Junior girls: Amrit Indo Canadian School beat Kingdar Garden School 7-1; GSSSS, PAU, beat BCM School, Shastri Nagar, 7-2; DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, beat Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, BRS Nagar, 5-0 and BVM Senior Secondary School, Kithclu Nagar, beat Kingdar Garden School, 10-1. — OC
