Bihar man gets life term for killing wife

The Court of Additional Sessions Judge, Manila Chugh, has sentenced Suresh Kumar Chaudhary, a native of Bishohara village in Bihar, to life imprisonment, along with a fine of Rs 50,000, for the murder of his wife. In this regard, the Sahnewal police had registered a case against the accused under Section 302 of the IPC on November 10, 2019.

According to the prosecution, on November 10, when SI Baldev Singh, along with a police team, was present at Eastman Chowk, Dhandari Kalan, they received information about the murder of a woman.

They reached the scene, where the complainant, Tilak Raj, a resident of Chanderi Khurd village, reported that on November 8, 2019, a man and a woman had approached him for taking a room on rent. The woman identified herself as Sheela Devi while the man as Suresh Kumar Chaudhary.

After finalising the rent, both moved into the room on November 9. That night, Suresh, under the influence of alcohol, had an altercation with his wife. The next morning, when the complainant checked their room, he found the woman lying dead while her husband was missing.

The complainant alleged that the accused murdered his wife and fled the scene. Subsequently, the police arrested him. The police registered the FIR and started a probe. During investigation, the police found much evidence against him. Later, they filed a charge sheet against him.

In court, the accused pleaded not guilty and claimed he was falsely implicated. However, based on the testimonies presented during the trial, it found him guilty and pronounced the sentence.
