The PAU police have booked seven persons on charges of extortion, criminal intimidation, and house trespass after they allegedly extorted Rs 15 lakh from a city-based businessman. Two of the accused have been arrested.

Investigating Officer ASI Amrik Singh said the complainant, Namneet Agarwal, a resident of Queen’s Garden, South City, runs a metal business. He alleged that Lakhbir Singh had been threatening him for six months and extorted Rs 15 lakh. The accused later barged into his house with accomplices, vandalised property, and threatened him with dire consequences.

The police registered an FIR against Lakhbir Singh, Jagdeep Singh, Anmol Verma, Manpreet Singh, Deepak Kumar, Robin, and Jagdish Singh. Anmol Verma and Manpreet Singh have been arrested, while raids are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accused.
