BJP celebrates ‘Kisan Vijay Diwas’ after AAP backs down on land pooling policy

In a show of victory, the BJP, led by spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal, celebrated ‘Kisan Vijay Diwas’ in Mundian, which is the native village of Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian.

The celebration marked the withdrawal of the land pooling policy by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government yesterday, a decision that was followed by immense pressure from the BJP’s “Save the Land, Save the Farmer” campaign.

Baliawal stated that this victory belonged not only to the farmers and labourers but also to every Punjabi who raised their voice during the struggle and forced the government to reverse the policy. He called it a significant defeat for the government’s scheme, which he alleged was aimed at forcibly seizing farmers’ land at the behest of ‘Delhi dealers’.

He gave credit for the victory to the residents of the constituency and the people of Punjab. He noted that while local panchayats and gram sabhas had passed resolutions against the policy, the government was initially unwilling to listen but now it had been forced to capitulate. He emphasised that the BJP had been fighting for farmers’ rights from the very beginning and would continue to do so. He warned that if any government, regardless of its political affiliations, attempts to grab farmers’ land, the BJP would take to the streets in protest.

He also cautioned farmers to remain vigilant, stating that the AAP government’s ‘fox-like tactics’ should not be trusted. He warned that the government might try to re-implement the policy through other means, but assured that the BJP would always stand at the forefront to protect the rights of Punjab’s farmers and would continue to expose the Bhagwant Mann-led government’s anti-farmer actions.
