The BJP has shortlisted a list of potential candidates for the Ludhiana West Assembly constituency byelection. A list of 12 candidates had been sent to Delhi after the state-level meeting held on April 22 in Chandigarh, but since the fatal Pahalgam killings took place the same day, nothing had been done by the party in this regard.

According to reliable sources, a list of about eight candidates has been shortlisted for the bypoll in Ludhiana West, which includes names of Amarjit Singh Tikka, Bikram Singh Sidhu, Amrik Singh Dhaliwal, Rashi Agarwal, Renu Thapar, Anil Sarin, Jivan Gupta, Harkesh Mittar, and Sanjay Mahindru (Bumpy). According to party sources, the BJP is carefully deliberating on these names.

The BJP is the only party which has still not declared the name of the candidate. The BJP leadership in Ludhiana has already clarified that the final decision will be of the party high command in Delhi. The sources added that it may take three-four days more to declare the name of the candidate.
