Kale Pani Da Morcha — the campaign to save the Buddha Nullah — has gained momentum as the organisers expect participation of over 1,000-1,500 persons from all over the state and Rajasthan tomorrow during a peaceful rally.

Associated with the campaign, Kuldip Khaira, an RTI activist, said they had great expectations as masses from Punjab, Rajasthan and Haryana had extended support to the initiative. Jaskirat Singh from Naroa Punjab said that it was a struggle to save the water bodies, which was playing havoc with the lives of hundreds of residents. “We are not here to disturb the peace but are attempting to save water and lives,” he said.

The campaign has got support from many quarters including environmentalists, agriculturists, celebrities, social organisations and students, and as a part of the ongoing initiative to save the dariya, a poster-making competition and dance performances will be organised today to raise awareness. The rally will start tomorrow from outside the PAU at 11 am and will march towards Bhai Bala chowk.
