Bypoll: Ind candidate files nomination on Day 3

On the third day of filing nominations for the Ludhiana West seat of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, one candidate has filed his nomination papers.

Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C said on Wednesday that an Independent candidate, Eng Baldev Raj Katna (Debi), submitted his nomination papers for the Ludhiana West bypoll.

The last date for filing nominations was June 2 and the scrutiny of the papers will be conducted on June 3. The final date for withdrawal of nominations is June 5.

The voting will take place on June 19 and the results will be declared on June 23, after the counting of votes.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
