Ludhiana: CT University celebrated the harvest festival with great enthusiasm. The Department of Student Welfare organised a vibrant event, which brought together the faculty members for an afternoon. The celebrations were marked by a bonfire, folk songs, bhangra, and games, which got everyone in the festive spirit. The highlight of the event was a DJ party, which had the faculty members grooving to regional beats. Another unique aspect of the celebration was the potluck lunch, where faculty members brought several dishes to share with their colleagues. This communal meal added to the sense of togetherness.
Nankana Sahib Public School
Exposing students to the rich cultural heritage of Punjab, Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Park, celebrated Lohri on the school campus today. The festival was celebrated with enthusiasm. Dr Sarbjit Kaur, Principal, Guru Nanak Dev Polytechnic College, was the chief guest of the occasion. A special bonfire was lit, around which students and teachers sat together and enjoyed singing and dancing.
Guru Nanak Public School
Lohri, the festival that beautifully showcases the richness of Punjabi culture, was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm at Guru Nanak Public School, Model Town Extension, Ludhiana. Principal Mona Singh inaugurated the event by lighting a bonfire. A feeling of ecstasy was created by melodious vocals in ‘Sunder Munderiye.’ Teachers and students participated in an inter-house kite-flying competition that filled everyone with joy, thrill, and inspiration. Peanuts, rewari, popcorn etc were distributed among students and teachers.
Arya College Girls Section
Arya College Girls Section celebrated ‘Dhiyan Di Lohri’ with great enthusiasm and zeal. Students, teachers, and staff members actively took part in the celebrations. The event began with students and teachers highlighting the cultural significance of Lohri and traditional folk dances, songs and poems. All the students who participated in the youth festival were awarded medals to encourage them. The event ended with lighting a bonfire on the campus. In this joyous celebration, sesame, peanuts and jaggery were distributed to everyone.
Sri Aurobindo College
Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management (SACCM) organised a convocation on January 11. Prof Prem Kumar Khosla, Chancellor, Shoolini University, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, presided over the function. Degrees were conferred upon 430 students from the 2020-2023 and 2021-2024 batches. Eight college colours, six rolls of honour and seven awards of merit were awarded to brilliant students. Padma Bhushan SP Oswal, Chairman, Vardhman Group of Companies and Governing Body, SACCM, welcomed the chief guest, Prof Khosla. Oswal, in his welcome address, advised the students to live goal-orientated and value-loaded lives. He shed light on the multi-perspectival life of the college. He further stressed the significance of sincerity and hard work in life. He said that SACCM was set up with the ideal of enriching the minds of young learners through the introduction of Sri Aurobindo’s philosophy of integral education, and in a span of 20 years, the college had created a history of sorts, bringing laurels, bagging awards, and erecting milestones.
Khalsa College for Women
The fourth day of the special NSS camp, held on January 13, began on an energetic note. Volunteers were served refreshments, which gave them a boost for an engaging and productive day that commenced with a rejuvenating yoga session. Inderjit Kaur, an experienced yoga instructor, conducted the special session. She guided the volunteers through a series of meditative exercises that helped instill a sense of calm among them, setting a positive tone for the day. Following the yoga session, Acharya Dr Lokesh from the Nature Veda Health Institute, Vedanta Gurukul, Ludhiana, delivered a lecture.
