DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, Ludhiana, concluded its annual athletics meet for classes III to VI with a grand finale, marking the culmination of a thrilling display of athletic prowess, camaraderie, and enthusiasm. The day’s festivities began with a motivational march past, and were followed by a display of mass PT, showcasing students’ energy and enthusiasm. Impressive displays of karate, lazium, and dumbbell exercises showcased students’ talent and dedication. Track events included hurdle races, spoon and glass races, simple races, and relay races. Parents actively participated in the parents’ race and were awarded medals. The highlight of the day was the ‘Run for Health’ campaign, spearheaded by Arya Rattan Padma Shri Awardee Dr Punam Suri Ji (President DAVCMC, New Delhi). Principal Dr Satwant Kaur Bhullar led by example, wearing a ‘Run for Health’ T-shirt herself and taking the initiative to jog along with students, parents, and teachers, motivating everyone to join in and make a commitment to a healthy lifestyle. Students carried placards with motivational slogans such as ‘Run for Health,’ ‘Run for Environment,’ and ‘Run for Happiness’. The principal’s energetic participation inspired others to follow a healthy regime.
Guru Nanak International Public school
Ludhiana: SchoolThe pre-primary wing of Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town, organised a quiz contest, ‘Chote Ustad,’ for the students of Class Balvatika-3 (UKG) on February 13. The quiz consisted of four rounds—spell bee, mental ability, memory, and rapid fire. The event witnessed mass participation from students, with each round consisting of a different group of four students representing different sections. The enthusiasm, confidence, and memory retention of the little ones was worth watching. Principal Gurmant Kaur Gill appreciated the efforts of the students and emphasised that such activities added to the personality development of the students and drew out the best in them. She also gave away the certificates to the winning teams. Headmistress Navjeet Kaur Pahuja and co-ordinator Abhineet Kaur Sarna also appreciated the efforts of the students and the teachers alike.
Guru Nanak Institute of tech
The Department of Hotel Management at Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology (GGNIMT) in Ghumar Mandi hosted a ‘Punjabi Tadka’ food festival offering various traditional Punjabi cuisines. Students from the bachelor of hotel management and catering technology programme recreated a Punjabi ambience and presented a variety of traditional dishes. The festival was inaugurated by Anjali Agarwal from Hyatt Regency, Ludhiana, and Chef Kishan from Madras Leaf, Ludhiana. Kishan commended GGNIMT for promoting authentic Punjabi dishes and encouraged the students to promote their culinary heritage. Prof Manjit Singh Chhabra, Director, GGNIMT, expressed gratitude to the guests and advised the student chefs to refine their culinary skills and explore entrepreneurship opportunities. He also praised the students for their enthusiastic participation and unique presentation of Punjabi cuisine. Dr Harpreet Singh, Principal, GGNIMT, congratulated the faculty and students of hotel management for helping students of various demographic backgrounds to understand and relish authentic Punjabi cultural experiences through the food festival.
Malwa Central College
The Eco Club of Malwa Central College of Education for Women, Ludhiana, participated in a 3-day workshop on ‘Mobile Journalism and Environment Filmmaking’ (MOJO). The event was organised by the State Nodal Agency, Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, under the environmental education programme in collaboration with CMS Vatavaran and SCD Government College with the support of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. Eco Club incharge Dr Jaya Batra, along with five BEd-IV students, actively participated in it. The workshop focused on preparing environmental documentaries and thereby spreading awareness among the masses. Dr Satwant Kaur, Principal, appreciated the efforts of the Punjab Government for organising such events.
Khalsa College for Women
The Department of Physics, Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines Ludhiana, celebrated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on February 11. This global event recognises the critical role women play in shaping the world of science and encourages girls to pursue careers in STEM fields. To commemorate this day, the Physics Department organised an event, ‘Physics in Daily Life: Clarity of Thought and Sustainability in Action’. Students showcased innovative science projects and experiments along with the demonstration on various scientific topics. The objective of the event was to inspire and motivate girls to pursue careers in science and technology and to recognise and celebrate the achievements of women scientists.
Nankana Sahib Public School
Showing their generosity towards ailing cancer patients through donations, students of Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Park, were awarded today by Global Cancer Concern India, a non-government organisation. The NGO is striving nationwide for the cause and care of cancer patients. Sania and Pardeep Singh of class VIII-D donated Rs 3,500 and 3,100, respectively. Varinder Singh of VII-G donated Rs 2,200, and Ridya Verma of Class II-A donated Rs 3,100. Sukhdeep Singh Gill, advisor of the NGO, awarded students and thanked their parents and teachers for helping sick patients.
MGM Public School
A wave of jubilant celebration took over MGM Public School in Ludhiana as the school’s students excelled in the Joint Entrance Examination – Main (JEE-Main) this year. The students truly proved their mettle and made the school proud by clinching marvellous results. Kavish Bhogal scored 97.84 per cent, Aman Jain 96.24 per cent and Talwinder Singh attained 95.75 per cent marks. The endeavours of the students brought an unceasing joy to the school management, faculty members, and parents. The director of the school, Gajjan Singh Thind, extended his heartiest congratulations to the students and goaded them to dabble more in such competitive exams. Principal Ranjana Kaushal expressed her elation on the glorifying victory of the students and expounded that such competitive exams were the cornerstone of pedagogy and one must strive to crack these.
