BCM School, Dugri, celebrated the achievement of Rihaan from Class V, who secured second place in the 18th National NTST Exam. Rihaan was honoured with a trophy and a bicycle, recognising his hard work and dedication, which made both his school and family proud. The event also featured a vibrant award ceremony for young achievers from classes I, II and III, who were recognised for their academic excellence. Dr Vandna Shahi, the school principal, congratulated the winners, inspiring them to continue pursuing success. The ceremony concluded with applause and motivation for future achievers.

Arya College hosts IT quiz competition

The PG Department of Computer Science at Arya College, here, organised the IT Quiz Competition 2025. The competition began with a written test, in which 75 students from BCA and PGDCA participated. Following this, four teams, each comprising three students, were shortlisted for the final quiz. The quiz consisted of four rounds: General Awareness, General IT, IT-specific questions and a Visual and Taglines Buzzer Round, which was appreciated by participants. Team Firefox, consisting of Gaurav from BCA II, Minal from PGDCA and Bhavuk from BCA III, was declared the winner, while Team Safari (Nitish, Neeraj, and Laksh) came second. Team Crome (Jashandeep, Shivani, and Ritika) took third place. Dr S.M. Sharma, Secretary of ACMC, and the principal, Dr Suksham Ahluwalia congratulated the students and encouraged them to take part in future activities for their overall development and career growth. Dr Rama Bansal, Incharge of the Computer Science Department, was also congratulated for successfully organising the event.

Workshop on marketing skills

Kamla Lohtia SD College, Ludhiana, recently hosted a three-day workshop on ‘Let’s Try Our Hands on Marketing,’ organised by the PG Department of Commerce and Management. The aim was to enhance marketing skills among students. Day one featured an insightful talk on the basics of marketing by Prof Monika and Dr Karun Kant Uppal, covering STP — Segmentation, Targeting and Positioning through practical examples, role play and case studies. On day two, Akhil Gupta, CEO and Founder of Thea - The Ideats, Ludhiana, spoke on ‘Branding Aise Hoti Hai.’ He discussed branding strategies and tactics, illustrating them with examples from major companies. Gupta concluded by emphasising the emotional appeal behind successful brands. The final day focused on market research, where students conducted surveys in the market, gathering firsthand data. They analysed the findings, learning about consumer interests and preferences. Day three also included a talk by Dr Mohd Saleem on ‘Advertising as a Tool for Marketing,’ highlighting the link between effective advertising and successful marketing.

Consumer Rights Day observed

The Commerce and Economics Society of Malwa Central College for Women, Ludhiana, organised an extension lecture on ‘A Just Transition to Sustainable Lifestyles’ to mark World Consumer Rights Day 2025. The event, held in the college seminar hall, featured Dr Rajnish Kler, an academic from the Department of Commerce at Motilal Nehru College, University of Delhi. Dr Kler, an expert in economics and consumer rights, was welcomed by Shreya Sood, Secretary of the Economics Society. The officiating principal, Dr Tripta and faculty in-charges Dr Neeraj Kumar (Commerce Society) and Dr Sukhwinder Singh (Economics Society) extended a floral welcome to the resource person.
