Guru Nanak International Public School

Ludhiana: Guru Nanak International Public School (GNIPS), Model Town, observed Teej by organising a mela for the pre-primary wing. The whole wing was beautifully decorated. Students and staff came dressed in vibrant traditional Punjabi outfits. A cultural programme was presented by the students. Swings and games were arranged for the students and staff. Everyone relished kheer and malpuras. Traditional articles like bagh, phulkari, charkha, pakhi, chajj, etc, were also put on display. Tavleen Kaur was named Miss Teej. Principal Gurmant Kaur Gill apprised the students about the significance of the festival.

Nankana Sahib Public School

Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Park, teams excelled in recently held sporting and indoor games tournaments. In the Ludhiana Sahodaya Schools Complex chess event for U-17 boys and girls, the school teams secured the fourth position. In the zonal tournament organised at BCM Arya School, Dolan Khurad, school’s U-14, U-17, and U-19 boys’ teams secured the third place. The U-19 girls team also succeeded in achieving the third place. Arashpreet Kaur from the U-19 girls’ team, Hemant Kumar from the U-17 boys’ team, and Gagandeep Singh and Devender Singh from the U-19 boys’ team have been selected for the district level tourney. Showcasing their sporting skills, the U-19 basketball team of Nankana Sahib Public School stood second in the zonal tournament held at DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road. Three players of the team got their names registered for the district level. The team members included Gurmat Singh, Harmandeep Singh and Jatin Kumar. Principal Harmeet Kaur Waraich congratulated the winners, appreciating their sportspersonship and commitment to excellence.

Khalsa College for Women

Rotract Club of Khalsa College for Women organised an awareness campaign ‘Swachhta Sakhis’ on menstrual hygiene in which the members of the club sensitised the students about the important issue. Around the world, millions who experience menstrual cycle lack access to safe sanitation. Without this basic resource, it is impossible for them to manage their menstruation in a hygienic way. Keeping this in mind, the Rotract Club in collaboration with Nine Foundation distributed sanitary napkins among students and other female helping staff of the college. Principal Dr Kamaljeet Kaur Grewal appreciated the efforts of the club and thanked Nine Foundation for the courteous initiative. TNS
